Larry and Lynn to leave Cisco
Next May would be the 13th anniversary of my first sermon to the Cisco Church of Christ. Over the years, Lynn and I have grown very close to the members of our congregation. It is, therefore, with a heavy heart that I am announcing my resignation as your pulpit minister. My last Sunday in that role will be February 25, 2007.
This decision did not come lightly. Lynn will testify that I literally did not sleep for three days.
For the last 2 ½ months, I have had discussions with officials at Abilene Christian University about a new ministry – working with their publishing division.
Monday, I accepted a position with ACU Press. Wednesday night, at our Elders, Deacons and Ministers meeting, I announced my resignation to our leaders.
My reasons for this decision have to do with retirement options.
We had hoped to buy a house in Cisco and commute; However, the position and other factors require that we move to the Abilene area (or fairly close).
So I hope that you realize that I’m not mad at anyone or anything like that. We still love you and we will continue to visit and worship with you on a frequent basis.
In Christian Love,
Larry Fitzgerald
